ABOUT US

We are a partnership of three like-minded professionals who have a deep and personal relationship with Transylvania. The team was brought together by Jean Michel Corbet - the most long-standing, distinguished and professional tour organiser in Transylvania.

Jean Michel Corbet has over 10 years experience of bringing Western Europeans to Transylvania. He married a Romanian woman, lives in the heart of Transylvania, and now has Romanian children of his own. He spent many years as joint-owner of Corbet-TransAir in Targu Mures, which brought many hundreds of tourists to experience the history and culture of the Transylvanian region. He now specialises in tailor-made personalised holidays to Transylvania, and also the ever-popular Dracula Tours. Jean Michel is a fussy frenchman - a perfectionist. He will only accept the very best in anything. So, he has created a trusted team of guides and tour providers in Transylvania, and hand-picked accommodation which he would be pleased to offer his own family.

Next is Michael Morton, who has been regularly visiting Romania since before the Revolution in 1989, and has personally witnessed the growth and development of tourism in Transylvania. He married a Romanian woman and they jointly run their successful travel operation “Transylvania Uncovered” from their home in Cumbria, United Kingdom. Michael prefers to concentrate on sustainable tourism wherever possible. So he and Jean Michel jointly arrange holidays in Transylvania which directly benefit the livelihood of the local people through the direct use of local guides and through support for charities, restoration and conservation projects. Mike has just completed a novel about life in Romania under Ceausescu.

The third member of the team is Rick Spurway - a British independent film and television producer who first came to Romania in 1998 to do charitable aid work in Transylvanian villages. He subsequently produced two television documentaries about the potential of tourism in Romania - particularly in Transylvania and the Danube Delta. Rick has conceived the Transylvania Express - a luxury rail adventure tour - which he is arranging with Jean Michel and Mike Morton. Rick has a huge experience of filming internationally, and is now helping to develop a Transylvania Film Commission which will help to promote the landscape of the region to film-makers worldwide.

These three bring together a number of skills which ensure that your holiday in Transylvania will be professional, entertaining, educational, and above all fun!
